Pay
Staff of the European institutions pay a tax on their salary. This means, however, that your salary is not subject to national tax in any of the Member States.
Your salary is also weighted by applying a coefficient based on the cost of living in the country in which you are posted. As of 1July 2024, the weighting for Frankfurt is 102.2%, the coefficient for Belgium and Luxembourg being 100.
The various components of your pay are also adjusted every year equal to the weighted average adjustment of public sector salaries (net of inflation) in the Member States.
Staff who has been at one step in his/her grade for two years shall automatically advance to the next step in that grade.
You can find more information in the EU staff regulations.
